Diffracting NewMaterialism/Cyberfeminism/Computing: 5 questions for AI from a technomaterialist perspective
Feminist scholars Karen Barad and Donna Haraway speak of diffraction as a way to situate and overlay different theories, materials and activities, so as to see what kind of new territories of world-making might congeal. What kind of new territory-building can be enacted when cyberfeminist legacies, feminist new materialist theories, computing theory/practices and artistic research are brought together into a series of bumpy knotted conversations and read through each other? Based on these conversations, I will propose five questions that are important to ask for re-thinking AI from a technomaterialist perspective.
